When I was growing up I used to wish that I could be like the cool kids because all the cool kids seemed to fit in. It took me years of self discovery, graduating college, many jobs, and several breakups later to figure out that I was cool- yes, I think I am cool in my own way. I play outside, and have fun while doing it. My friends have similar interests, and while we are not all exactly alike we are all very supportive of each other, our goals, accomplishments and even failures. This support network is what has kept me going and keeps me motivated to live my life to the fullest everyday. I have discovered that I will never be one of those women who can sit still, and just lay on a sunny beach all day long. I need to be active or planning my next adventure- mountain biking, skiing, or going for a quick hike- or if I only have 30 minutes taking my dog for a walk. And you know what? I think that’s totally cool. I find my zen while in nature- but it doesn't always have to be the top of the mountain it can be found just walking my dog along a river. I find my calm while in motion- I prefer to be on the go.
